I own a 1956 Hudson Metropolitan since 1963, in fact it was my first car. Drove it all over Europe. Front axle is absolute week point. It follows any grooves in the road, such as street car tracks until you turn the steering wheel one half turn. Then it jumps out of the track and you may be in serious trouble. Great little car however. I love it dearly and will never ever sell it. Just dont drive fast around any corner. It hates curves. Engine is very reliable if maintained properly. Brakes are small but very efficient. Lots of fun to drive and you get more smiles and attention than a Ferrari. Radial tires will improve handling alot but they dont look right. Engine hates high RPM and will blow rod bearings if reved for more than a few seconds. Keep it below 4500 RPM at all times. Parts are available . NOS parts however are hard to come by. Questions about this car?? Just ask me,glad to help.  |
