Renting a car in Spain last week, we were upgraded from a Ford Focus to a small, automatic Mercedes A-180 b/c the Focus wasn\´t ready. We drove around in that little car for 9 days, mostly on twisty mountains (no flat surfaces, no straight lines). In all that time, we used 3/4 of a tank of gas. When the needle hadn\´t moved after the first couple of days, we worried that the gauge was broken. But the car was just supremely fuel efficient. And the engine was powerful and sensitive. Going down steep grades, I would tap the brake once and never had to again b/c the engine sensed what I wanted to do and automatically controlled the car speed. Going up hills, it responded the same way with a tap on the gas pedal. The handling was solid and steady. The only thing our model lacked was arm rests. Best upgrade we\´ve every had!  |
